A 52 yr old Saanich woman is facing drug trafficking charges following a Regional Crime Unit (RCU) investigation in the Regina Avenue neighbourhood of Saanich.  She is well-known to local police.

Around 5 p.m. Monday afternoon the RCU witnessed a hand-to-hand drug transaction and arrested the woman along with a 24 yr old Esquimalt man.  A small amount of heroin and cocaine was seized.

RCU investigators obtained a search warrant and searched the woman’s home in the 70 block of Regina Ave early Monday evening.  Assistance was provided by Saanich Police.  Additional small amounts of cocaine and marihuana were seized, along with weigh scales and drug packaging supplies.  A number of pieces of unique jewelry believed to be stolen property were also seized by the RCU.  The arrested woman was held in custody and will be appearing in court Tuesday on new drug trafficking charges, while the 24 yr old man was released to appear in court at a later date.

Back at the end of September, 2009, this same home on Regina Ave was one of five homes in Saanich and West Shore searched by police during a series of pre-dawn search warrants involving several local police agencies.  The September police operations were the culmination of a substantial three-month investigation led by Victoria Police and led to numerous drug trafficking charges.
