On April 24, 2019 the Saanich Police took a report from the University of Victoria Formula Motorsport team about a theft of unique car parts that were built by the team for installation in their custom built Formula car. Members of our Street Crime Unit followed up on this theft after the stolen car parts were found listed for sale on Used Victoria.

On May 8, 2019, officers identified the man attempting to sell the parts and arrested him for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The 48 year old Victoria man is well known to police and will be appearing in court this morning.

The stolen car parts were recovered and have been returned to the Motorsport team, who are actually in Michigan at a competition with their car. The university will be arranging expedited delivery of the parts to the team.

We wish them the best of luck during their competition year!
