Saanich Police are investigating a serious collision between a car and motorcycle that happened at around noon today, September 16, 2019, at the intersection of Cumberland Road and Union Road. Tragically, the driver of the motorcycle died at the scene.

Investigators are working to determine the events leading up to the crash and our Collision Analysts and Forensic Identification officers are on scene collecting evidence. This is a time consuming process and traffic in this residential area will be impacted throughout the afternoon.

The BC Coroners Service have been contacted and efforts are underway to notify the family of the deceased driver. Victim Services has also been brought in to provide support for all those impacted.

“This is a terrible crash that has taken away a man from his family. Our sincerest condolences are extended to them all” said Sgt. Julie Fast, Saanich Police.

The driver of the car was uninjured and is being investigated for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
