Saanich Police ended a busy day yesterday with two major incidents at the same time over the dinner hour.
The standoff in the 3800 block of Mildred street concluded when the occupants of the residence exited without incident after a protracted negotiation. A search of the residence conducted by members of the Saanich Police Detectives revealed a large quantity of what is believed to be cocaine, which is yet to be tested.
The investigation continues and charges may be forthcoming in the near future.
At the same time, two drug raids were happening in the 700 block Fisgard and the 4000 block of Kincaid street. Two males were arrested by Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team members on Quadra Street at Tolmie avenue and a third was arrested sometime later.
The arrest and searches revealed five firearms and a large quantity of cocaine ready for the streets. Two male Saanich residents, 29 and 31 years, and a 24 year old Victoria resident were arrested. The 24 year old Victoria resident remained in custody to appear in court today charged with multiple firearms and weapons offences.
The most disturbing aspect to this investigation was the presence of two firearms that appear to be fully automatic. They also had silencers that quickly attached to them.
