Another business compound was compromised in the Glanford area.
Yesterday afternoon, officers were called to a business in the 4200 block of Commerce Circle. Employees had noticed that some metal had gone missing from the outdoor yard.
Found to be missing was about 500lbs of 2″ aluminum pipe. Thieves had cut a padlocked chain securing a gate to the yard. The break-in occurred sometime over the weekend between Friday, February 24th, and yesterday.
It appears only the shorter lengths that could easily be taken by hand were stolen, with much longer lengths being left behind.
Metal recyclers have been contacted to be on the watch for the stolen aluminum pipes.
Business owners in the community with outdoor yards are encouraged to review their security procedures. A higher degree of security can be achieved with the use of increased lighting, alarms and tamper proof locks.
Businesses with questions about security are encouraged to contact the Saanich Police Crime Prevention office at 250-475-4321.
