Saturday night, the GVERT was activated for what was thought to be a man with a gun.
On Friday, April 13th, 2012, a caller reported possibly seeing a man with a gun in the 1200 block of Les Meadows off of Blenkinsop road. Patrol officers responded to the area and set up containment.
Given the heightened danger to officers, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team was activated to assist.
Once a perimeter was established, the four occupants were called out from the residence and taken into custody. All four were returned to the Saanich Police Department headquarters and were interviewed by detectives.
The residence was searched and secured by ERT members however, no firearm located.
This incident started as an argument between two males at the residence. For whatever reason, one of the two males had stuck a curling iron or hair straightener down his pants. It is the belief of detectives that it was mistaken for a firearm.
All four were released with no charges.
