Monday afternoon, Shirley Burstall’s vehicle was located off the Strathcona Parkway in the Courtenay area. The car, a 2002 Mazda Protégé, was located on a remote side road and appeared to have been there for some time.
The vehicle was locked and Mrs. Burstall’s personal belongings were found locked in the trunk. There were no obvious signs of anything suspicious to investigators.
A search is underway in the area involving volunteer Search and Rescue personnel, RCMP dog teams, General Duty officers and Air Services.
Saanich Police Detectives are working closely with RCMP investigators in coordinating the search for Mrs. Burstall.
