At about, 1:30am on June 14, 2012 Saanich Police Communication Staff received a 9-1-1 call where the caller reported a single vehicle left the roadway colliding head on into a utility pole in the 3900 Blk of Gordon Head Rd.
Saanich Police Uniform Officers were first on scene and noted a frantic young female outside her vehicle while her female passenger was trapped inside the vehicle. Saanich Fire attended and had to use the jaws of life to free the front passenger.
Both occupants, in their early 20’s, were transported to Victoria General Hospital by BC Ambulance Paramedics with what are believed to be significant but non life threatening injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in this collision and as a result the female driver will be facing criminal charges for impaired driving.
As we are nearing the summer months Saanich Police would like to remind motorists of the hazards surrounding drinking and driving and the long term impact it has on you and your passengers.
