On the evening of Tuesday July 3rd, 2012 the Saanich Police received two separate complaints from citizen that they had eggs thrown at them from a customized black lowered BMW.
The first complaint was from a male and a female who were out walking two dogs on Wilkinson Road at Mann Ave when they had eggs thrown at them from youths inside the BMW at 9:30 p.m.
At 9:45 p.m. a male walking on Cedar Hill Road reported being hit with eggs thrown from the same lowered BMW that caused bruising to his body.
At 10:45 p.m. a Saanich Police patrol car observed a BMW matching the description on Glanford Ave and conducted a traffic stop. Police observed 8 cartons of eggs with 89 eggs missing inside the vehicle. A 17 year old male driver and two 16 year old females were arrested for assault. Police learned that the youths targeted pedestrians across Saanich and Victoria as well as vehicles on Chatterton Way. Saanich Police believe there are several other victims and are looking to speak with them as well as the owners of the vehicles.
At 11:37 p.m. unrelated complaints of youths throwing eggs at vehicles on the Trans Canada Highway and Mckenzie Avenue were received however, the youth were not located.
At 1 a.m. a Saanich Police patrol member stopped vehicle full of youths in the 1500 block of Mckenzie Ave and noted 8 full cartoons of eggs in the vehicle. The youths admitted that the eggs were not for cooking and 8 cartoons were seized by Police.
Police want to remind youth about the personal injury that can occur with throwing eggs, especially shell causing damage to eyes. Eggs also can cause paint to crack on vehicles and damage homes.
