Late Sunday evening at about 11:30pm, a call for help was received from the 1100 block of Dunsterville ave, in the area of Wilkinson and Interurban.
A male unknown to the occupants, mounted the back porch, picked up and threw a planter through a double paned sliding glass door. He then entered the smashed doorway into the residence.
A 53 year old female resident, home at the time, began screaming and the male ran past her into the home. He ran downstairs and into the garage of the residence and fled out of the house towards the Mac’s store.
Patrol officers responded in force with a police K9, but could not locate the suspect. A Saanich Police Forensics Technician attended the residence to conduct a search for forensic evidence.
Early the next morning, residents contacted police once again. They had found some discarded items in their rear yard, including a back pack full of personal items.
The responding patrol officer located a clue- hanging outside the black back pack were some documents a Promise to Appear to attend court and an executed warrant of arrest, both in the name of the suspect.
The suspect, a 34 year old local male of no fixed address, is being sought by investigators.
Note to self- when breaking into a residence do not leave documents in your name at the scene of the crime.
