On Sunday, July 22nd, 2012, just after the dinner hour, the Saanich Police were contacted by a resident in the 900 block of McBriar ave.
The resident had spotted an obviously non-indigenous three foot long snake in his back yard. Officers arrived and they managed to corral the snake into a garbage can so it could be taken to the CRD animal shelter.
Officers then went back to headquarters and began to conduct an internet search of the possible type of snake. They determined that it is likely a California King snake, a non-venomous variety that is often kept as a pet.
At present, the snake is at the CRD shelter awaiting its owner. If you are the owner of this snake or know whose it may be, please contact the CRD animal shelter at 250-658-5745 or the Saanich Police at 250-475-4321.
