In the early morning hours of Monday, November 12, 2012, a resident in the 2800 block of Adelaide Avenue noticed that his vehicle appeared to have been entered by someone. He then saw a suspect male several properties away who appeared to be breaking into other vehicles in the area.
The witness then confronted the suspect and saw that he was in possession of property from his car. The suspect was challenged at which time he produced a knife threatened the witness and then fled from the area on foot.
Multiple Saanich Police officers were dispatched to the area including a police K9 officer. The dog tracked the suspect to no avail. Luckily, the dog found the chain which had been taken from the witnesses car, which was returned later.
The suspect male was described as Caucasian, 23-31 years of age, 5’10” tall, 200 pounds, with a full dark brown beard. He was wearing a grey 3/4 length winter coat with a white stripe and a toque at the time of the incident.
Officers found that a total of four vehicles in the immediate area had been entered.
Residents are reminded to remove all valuables from their vehicles and to ensure that their vehicles are locked when parked.
