In the early morning hours of January 19th, neighbours in the 2700 block of Foul Bay Road were awoken to the sound of a vehicle crashing through a six foot hedge, and coming to rest against a tree.
The Saanich Police Department and the Oak Bay Police Department responded to the report shortly after 4 AM. Witnesses reported seeing more than two people fleeing from the vehicle in multiple directions. Despite efforts of police, no one from the vehicle was located.
It was determined that the vehicle had been stolen from a residence in the 1900 block of Haultain, likely just prior to the incident. This location is approximately two blocks from the crash scene. It is not known what may have caused the vehicle to crash.
The vehicle was recovered and has undergone examination for any forensic evidence that may have been left behind by the suspects. The investigation continues and there are no known suspects at this time.
Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to call the Saanich Police at 250-475-4321, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) to remain anonymous.
