Two youths were arrested on Friday, March 1, while breaking into the concession stand at Lambrick Park.
At approximately nine o’clock in the evening, a tip from a very alert witness led police to attend to the concession stand at Lambrick Park in Gordon Head. Upon arrival, police observed one male youth standing directly outside of the concession stand at the park. Damage was noted to the plywood drop board to the concession and a second youth was observed within the concession stand.
Upon seeing police arrive on scene, the youth that had been outside fled the area on foot. The second male was apprehended as he attempted to flee from the concession stand.
A description of the youth that fled the area was broadcast to other police in the area and the youth was located and arrested.
The youths were identified as a 17 year old Saanich resident and a 16 year old Central Saanich resident. Both were released to their parents and both will be appearing in court in early April to answer to the charge of Break and Enter with Intent.
“This file serves as a great example of how a tip from the public can assist us and allow us to apprehend people that are responsible for crime in our community” Sgt. Steve Eassie says. “It is unfortunate that we cannot be everwhere and see everthying that is happening as it happens. By having the community help by being our eyes and ears, and giving us the information in a timely manner, it gives us a much better opportunity to solve these types of crimes.”
