A 27 year old Campbell River area resident has been arrested for the violent home invasion robbery that took place in a Saanich home during the evening hours of Monday, May 20.
Saanich Police Major Crime investigators were able to identify the male through investigative leads and alerted other police services of their interest in the male.
The male was taken into custody late in the afternoon on Wednesday in the Campbell River area by the RCMP. The male was held in custody at the Campbell River RCMP Detachment while the complex investigation continued.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to notify the public that there is no further apparent risk from this individual” Sgt. Steve Eassie said. “This was a very complex and protracted investigation. The men and women of the Saanich Police Department followed every lead available and were able to identify the male as a suspect. We wish to acknowledge and thank the Campbell River RCMP for their assistance with this investigation”.
The investigation into this incident continues. This afternoon, the male was remanded in custody by way of a telebail process and will be making his next court appearance tomorrow afternoon in Victoria Provincial Court.
Police are still seeking the assistance of the public to locate the vehicle that was stolen at the time of this incident. The vehicle is described as a brown 1999 Toyota Camry bearing BC License plate HWM644.
