A 34 year old Victoria man has been arrested in relation to numerous recent theft from vehicle incidents.
A week-long investigation by the Regional Crime Unit and Saanich Police culminated in the man’s arrest late Thursday night, July 11th.
Over two dozen unlocked vehicles were entered during the last week of June and the first week of July. These thefts happened in the Blenkinsop Road / Cedar Hill X-Road neighbourhood and within the Lakehill area.
Police have recovered fingerprint evidence and several items of stolen property directly linking the man to a number of these theft incidents.
Saanich Police held a telephone bail hearing for the man at mid-day on Friday. He was remanded into custody at VIRCC (the Wilkinson Road jail) for the weekend.
The arrested man will be making his first appearance in Victoria Provincial Court on Monday, July 15 th. Police will be recommending a large number of theft and stolen property charges to Crown Counsel.
Further details will be made available early next week.
The assistance of both the Saanich Police Forensic Identification Section and the Regional Crime Unit was instrumental to the successful outcome of this investigation.

Update:
Ross James MACMILLAN, a 35 year old Victoria resident, appeared in court yesterday relating to these events. A total of 26 victims have been identified to date, and, in the interest of efficiency, Crown has laid three counts of Theft Under $5000 to encompass the 26 incidents, all of which occurred over the course of three date ranges (the first being June 23-24, the second July 1-2, and the third July 7-8).
MACMILLAN has been held in custody and will be making a further court appearance on July 19, 2013.
