Two Saanich Police officers have recently competed in events at the World Police & Fire games in Belfast, Ireland, and both have excelled at their sport.
Cst. Heather Hunter and Cst. Matt Morin both travelled to Belfast, Ireland to compete in their individual events, and to represent the Saanich Police Department on a world stage.
Cst. Hunter competed in the Indoor Rowing event at the games. After beating her previous personal best time by seven seconds, Heather earned a Silver Medal for her efforts.
Cst. Morin competed in wrestling events at the games. Matt earned a Silver Medal in Greco-Roman style wrestling, as well as a Bronze Medal in Freestyle wresting.
The Saanich Police Department congratulates both Heather and Matt on their extraordinary efforts, and are extremely proud of both of these athletes.
These results are fantastic, especially considering the level of competition that would hve been present at these events. The World Police & Fire Games is a biennial event for serving and retired police, fire, prison and border security officers. WPFG is the third largest international multi-sport event in the world.
Congratulations to both Heather and Matt.
