Between September 18 and September 22, twenty seven (27) teams of handlers and canine partners competed at various locations throughout the Greater Victoria area. All of these teams were competing for the top spot to be named the overall, Canadian Champion for 2013.
The event concluded on Sunday with a fantastic display of these professionals and their dogs at an event that was open to the public at the UVic Centennial Stadium. Despite the challenges of the weather, the event was well attended.
Cst. Jon Zielinski and his partner Zeke, from the Saanich Police Department, won the competition, repeating from last year. The team was named as the overall Canadian Champions for 2013.
Jon and Zeke placed first in tracking, first in obedience, and second in the evidence search component to win the overall title.
Second place went to Jody Lorence and partner Kruze from the Regina Police Service.
A special thanks to the sponsors and volunteers who were instrumental in making this event a successful one.
We were pleased to see all of the members of the public that were able to join us for this event.
Congratulations to all competitors. Safe travels on your routes home.
