Saanich Police and the Saanich Fire Department are investigating a vehicle fire that occurred on Sunday evening, January 11, 2014.
Shortly after 10 pm, numerous witnesses contacted police reporting a parked vehicle on fire behind a business in the 3500 block of Quadra Street, near the intersection of Tattersall Drive.
When Police and Fire crews arrived on scene, the cab of the 2005 ford F550 dump truck was fully engulfed in flames.
Preliminary investigation determined that the vehicle had been parked at that location for a considerable amount of time, leading investigators from both Police and Fire to believe that the fire was suspicious in nature.
Thankfully, the fire was contained to the vehicle and no other property or residences in the immediate vicinity were damaged.
The vehicle was seized and towed from the location of the fire. Police and Fire investigators will continue with their investigation to determine if any forensic evidence can be recovered from the vehicle that could point to the cause of the fire.
Anyone who may have been in the area of the fire, or who may have information concerning this incident, are asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- TIPS(8477).
