Saanich Police Detectives, along with officers from the Uniform Division and Criminal Intelligence Unit, have gathered information that has led to the arrest of a 31 year old Saanich man for Robbery and Disguise with Intent.
On Friday, April 25, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Saanich Police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Mac’s convenience store in the 4100 block of Wilkinson Road. An unidentified male had entered the store and demanded cash from the store employee. The suspect brandished a knife and had covered his face with what appeared a balaclava.
The store employee complied with the demands of the suspect, and the suspect fled the store with a quantity of cash. The store employee was not injured.
Investigators identified a person of interest based on information from police based intelligence and were able to locate a probable location for the person of interest. The male suspect was later located and arrested for the robbery at approximately 9:35 p.m..
At the time of the arrest, the male and a female companion were in a motor vehicle, after they had departed from a residence. A search of the vehicle located a knife that closely matched the description of the weapon used during the robbery.
A subsequent search warrant for the residence of the male suspect located clothing that appeared to match what had been observed in the video surveillance taken at the time of the incident.
The suspect, 31 year old Sean Michael MUIR, was held in custody and appeared by way of Telebail. MUIR remains in custody and is scheduled to make a further appearance on April 28, facing charges of Robbery and Disguise With Intent.
