A 22 year old Saanich woman will be facing charges of assaulting two Saanich Police officers and damaging a patrol car resulting from an overnight incident.
Shortly after 2 a.m. today (Friday, June 27) , police were called to a home in the 3200 block of Shelley Street. A verbal and physical disturbance was happening in the home between two young women, one of whom was heavily intoxicated.
One of the women left the home and was arrested out on the street for being intoxicated in a public place. While being driven back to the police station in the secure back seat area of the police car, she began kicking the Plexiglas partition so hard that it broke a piece out and damaged the whole divider.
While being moved and secured in another police vehicle, the woman spat into the hair and face of the arresting officer. After arriving at the Saanich Police station, the woman kicked the same officer in the thigh. She kicked a second officer in the groin a short time later.
The woman was held overnight in police cells and was released in the early afternoon when she was sober.
Police will be recommending charges of assaulting the two police officers, along with a mischief charge for the police car damage. She is expected to appear in Victoria Provincial Court in early August.
