Saanich Police are investigating the brazen daytime robbery of a jewellery store located in the 4200 block of Carey Road.
At around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, Saanich Police received a report that two unknown males had entered the business, their faces covered with fabric, and smashed a glass display cabinet. Within seconds, the suspects grabbed a quantity of jewellery and fled the store on foot.
The store employee was within the business at the time of the incident and likely scared off the suspects.
This incident is still in the early stages of the investigation.
Police investigators are making efforts to retrieve video footage from the store that may aid in solving this incident. Once the video is obtained, it will be used by the investigators to determine detailed descriptions of the suspects and their actions within the store. The video will not be shared with the public at this time.
The store employee was not injured during this incident and there were no apparent threats of violence.
A Saanich Police K9 unit attended the scene and was able to determine that the males had departed from the property northbound on Carey Road from the business, in the direction of Wilkinson Road. The suspects were not located.
Anyone that may have information concerning this incident are asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
