Saturday May 21, 2016 – National Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day

The Saanich Police Department are once again supporting an initiative of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, National Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day.  This is the 4th annual event and encourages the safe disposal of expired or unused prescription medications.

Saturday May 21, 2016 is being recognized as the National Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day.  This effective drug-abuse prevention strategy helps get unused and expired prescription medication out of Canadian homes by providing a safe and convenient method of disposal, while also encouraging people to take unused medications back to a pharmacy on a regular basis. Last year Canadians dropped off more than 1000 lbs of pharmaceutical products to drop-off sites across the country on this one day.

When you drop off your medications, you’ll not only ensure they’re disposed of properly – you’ll also keep them out of the wrong hands, preventing abuse or accidental ingestion – and protecting our environment in the process.
