On April 15, 2017 at approximately 6:35PM a male had his two dogs stolen while he was grocery shopping at the Save on Foods store located in the 3900 block of Shelbourne St. The owner had tied his two dogs to a handrail outside the business, as he had done numerous times in the past. Prior to entering the store the owner noticed a male petting the two dogs. When he returned less than ten minutes later he saw his dogs were missing.
An unknown woman approached the owner in the parking lot and said she saw the same male running south on Shelbourne St with the two dogs.
The suspect is described as a caucasian male, around 25 years old, about 5’8″, with a thin build, dark hair, and no facial hair. The suspect was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, dark sunglasses, and possibly a “lumberjack” jacket.
One dog is a seven year old female German Shepherd, traditional colour, approximately 100 pounds, has a identifying tattoo in her ear, and dark brown collar. She will respond to the name “Arrow”.
The other dog is a 14 year old male, described as a wolf/coyote breed, white/grey/black fur, black collar, and is partially deaf. He will respond to the name of “Biggs”.
Both dogs are described as “friendly people lovers”.
Saanich Police attended the area and conducted extensive patrols, however, did not locate the suspect or the two dogs.
