BACKGROUND:
On December 20, 2017 just after 8:00AM Saanich Police responded to a Motor Vehicle Crash that occurred at the intersection of Ash Rd/Torquay Dr. An 11 year old girl was crossing Ash Rd at a marked crosswalk when she was struck by an SUV travelling east bound on Ash Rd. The girl was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries.
UPDATE:
Since the time of the crash Saanich Police Investigators were able to gather a substantial amount of evidence resulting in criminal charge approval. An Information charging the driver, 21 year old Tenessa Rayann Lyric Nikirk from North Saanich, for one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm contrary to s.249(3) of the Criminal Code was sworn on October 11, 2018.
An appearance in the case has been scheduled for November 7, 2018 in Victoria Provincial Court.
As this matter is now before the court Saanich Police are unable to release additional information or comment further at this time.
