On April 22, 2020 just after 4:00 p.m. police attended to the intersection of Quadra Street and Union Road to investigate a potentially serious collision involving a vehicle that turned left in front of another vehicle.
Fortunately, neither driver was injured however police noticed some signs of impairment on the driver who had turned left and caused the collision. That driver failed a roadside breath test which then gave the officer grounds to believe that the driver was impaired by alcohol. As such, that driver received an immediate 90-day driving prohibition and their vehicle was impounded for 30 days. Police also issued a violation ticket to the driver for failing to yield while making a left turn. The other vehicle had to be towed due to the extensive damage caused by the crash.
“Collisions at intersections have the potential for very serious injuries, which fortunately was not the case here. This driver is now facing significant consequences and will not be driving on our roads for some time now.
