One person has died following a two-vehicle collision early this morning on West Saanich Road.
On February 4, 2021, at 7:35 a.m. Saanich Police responded to a call about a serious two-vehicle collision in the 5200 block of West Saanich Road. The driver of a black Honda CRX was pronounced dead at the scene and was the only occupant of that vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle involved, a white Dodge Ram pickup truck, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was also the only occupant of that vehicle.
West Saanich Road remains closed to both north and southbound traffic until later this afternoon. We appreciate the public’s patience while officers from our Traffic Safety Unit and Collision Reconstruction team gather evidence from the scene. The BC Coroner’s Service is also investigating.
“Unfortunately one of the drivers succumbed to their injuries and our thoughts are with their family today. It will take some time to investigate and determine the events that led up to the collision, as well as the cause of death.”
If you were a witness to this incident or have dash camera footage and have not yet spoken to a police officer, please contact the Saanich Police at 250-475-4321.
