On March 6, 2021 the Saanich Police and Saanich Fire Department attended a fire to two residential homes in the 1700 block of Carnegie Crescent, which were adjacent to one another and occupied at the time. There were no physical injuries reported. The fire was significant, causing approximately $355,000 worth of total damages.
An ongoing investigation through our Major Crime Unit has determined that this fire was suspicious in nature and it is being treated as an arson. As a result, detectives are looking to speak to anyone that they haven’t already spoken to, unless new information has been obtained, that may have been a witness or have information that could assist in this investigation. This includes anyone that might have been driving in the area and would have dashcam footage. While the fire was reported at 7:00 pm, an hour prior to and after this time is what investigators are currently focusing on.
