Saanich Police officers arrested two suspects after a vehicle that was stolen in Langford early this morning was located at Uptown Shopping Centre.
On Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 8:30 a.m. a witness observed a 4-door Buick sedan hit a concrete pillar at Uptown Shopping Centre and continued to drive on. The witness called police and provided a very detailed description of two suspects that had then walked away from the vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Langford just after 2:00 a.m. this morning.
Officers attended the area, including an officer with our bike section, who spotted both suspects walking on the Galloping Goose Trail. One was arrested on the trail while the other crossed the Trans Canada Highway directly into the path of a waiting patrol officer. The Integrated Canine Service assisted in locating evidence related to the crime.
Several charges are being recommended by police, including possession of stolen property and breach of release conditions for both suspects.
