The driver of a vehicle is dead after a single-vehicle collision last night on Cordova Bay Road.
On May 8, 2022, at 6:35 p.m. officers responded to a report of a collision on Cordova Bay Road just west of Ash Road. The driver, a 30-year-old man, had to be extricated by Saanich Fire. He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive his injuries. His family has been advised of his passing. He was the only occupant of the vehicle, a grey 4-door Mitsubishi Lancer.
An examination of the scene has determined that the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Cordova Bay Road when it veered off-road left and struck a large tree head-on. Officers are working to determine the cause of the collision and the factors that led the driver to hit the tree. The road was closed for several hours and re-opened just after midnight today.
“Anyone that may have witnessed the grey Mitsubishi Lancer driving prior to the collision around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Cordova Bay Road is asked to please contact us,” said Cst. Markus Anastasiades.
