Scott Matheson, a 43-year-old man, has been arrested and charged with 2nd-degree murder in connection to a 2021 homicide at a Saanich home.
On Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Saanich Police officers responded to a multi-unit home on Battleford Avenue to a report that a man was deceased inside one of the suites. Officers located and later identified the deceased as 64-year-old Robert Dobronay, who had been living in the basement suite.
The death was treated as a homicide and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) assumed conduct of the investigation.
On August 30, 2022, VIIMCU arrested Scott Matheson in Penticton, BC after the charge was approved by the BC Prosecution Service for 2nd-degree murder. He remains in custody until his next court appearance on October 5, 2022.
