LAST SAANICH POLICE OFFICER RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL

After 71 days in the hospital, our Saanich Police officer was released yesterday morning to recover at his home with family. This officer is a Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team member and was seriously injured in the incident on Shelbourne Street on June 28th, 2022. He was one of three officers that were hospitalized.

Police, fire, paramedics, health care workers and of course family and friends all gathered outside the Victoria General Hospital to send him off.

“This is such a powerful, important day for the Saanich Police Department,” said Chief Constable Dean Duthie. “We are bringing home our last injured member from the hospital. He has a positive outlook that inspires and motivates us all.”

We would like to thank the first responders that day that cared for and transported all of the injured officers to the hospital, and the healthcare workers that provided medical aid and demonstrated remarkable compassion and care to our officers.
