On March 2, 2024, Saanich Police patrol officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2300 block of
Irma Street. Due to suspicious behavior exhibited by the passenger, and the observation of a
shell casing on the dashboard of the vehicle, the passenger was arrested. The subsequent
search of the vehicle resulted in locating a backpack that contained:
- GSG-15 .22 LR Rifle with loaded magazine
- Additional loaded magazine
- 200+ rounds of loose ammunition
- 2 pairs of brass knuckles
The accused, Joshua Logan, a 30-year-old Greater Victoria resident, has been charged with 8
counts including:
- Transport a Firearm in a manner contrary to regulation | s. 117 (h) Firearms Act
- Carry or Possess Weapon | s. 88(1) Criminal Code
- Possess prohibited, restricted, or non-restricted firearm with a license | s. 91(1) Criminal
Code - Possess prohibited, restricted, or non-restricted firearm with a license | s. 92(1) Criminal
Code - Occupy a vehicle knowing there was a prohibited, restricted, or non-restricted firearm |
s. 94 (1) Criminal Code - Possess a loaded prohibited, restricted firearm without being the holder of an
authorization or license | s. 95(1) Criminal Code - Possess a prohibited weapon x 2 | s. 91(2) Criminal Code
“This was really impressive work by our patrol officers and example of our diligence in keeping
the community safe,” stated Inspector Damian Kowalewich. “There is no practical need for
these weapons to be in our community and we are glad to have removed them from the public
space.”
