The Saanich Police Department has launched an online reporting system that gives residents a new way to report select non‑urgent incidents.
Online reporting allows the public to submit reports for certain incidents at a time that is convenient for them, which supports more timely reporting of incidents that may otherwise go unreported. This also improves the efficiency of police service delivery and helps reduce wait times for the public.
The system is available through the Saanich Police Department website and includes clear instructions and examples to help users determine whether their incident is suitable for online reporting. This option is intended to complement, not replace, reporting by phone or in person.
Online reporting should not be used for emergencies, crimes in progress, or incidents requiring immediate police attendance. In those situations, the public should call 911 or the police non‑emergency line.
The online reporting system is now available at www.saanichpolice.ca under Services and Reporting.
The development of the web resource to host the online reporting system was fully funded through the Government of BC’s C-STEP program.
