The Saanich Police Department wishes to advise area residents that on Sunday, August 24, some streets within the Greater Victoria area will be affected by cyclists taking part in the fourth annual Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria.
Residents are notified that traffic control personnel, course marshalls, and police will be monitoring the traffic flow along the planned route and will be controlling the cyclists and traffic in the affected areas.
To be clear, this event is not a race. It is instead a supported ride, and all participating cyclists will be required to follow the Motor Vehicle Act and the rules of the road. Throughout the planned course, there will be temporary road closures and restrictions to traffic to provide a greater level of safety for the cyclists. Drivers should expect minor traffic delays throughout the region.
