On Thursday, November 13th, a shopping excursion at the Uptown mall ended with a disturbing twist.
An 80 year old female had finished her shopping trip and had returned to her vehicle. The female unlocked her vehicle and entered the vehicle. Almost immediately, an unknown male opened the passenger door of the vehicle, reached inside and took a wallet that had been placed on the passenger seat.
The female was not injured but was obviously disturbed by this bold move of the suspect.
The male was described as being Caucasian, late 20’s to early 30’s, medium build, wearing a black jacket and dark pants. Patrols to locate the male were not successful.
Several credit cards, identification, and a small quantity of cash were taken.
Unfortunately, the location where the vehicle has been parked had a video camera with an obscured view.
“This type of theft is very bold, and thankfully uncommon” Sgt. Steve Eassie said.
Anyone who may have information about this incident are asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
