Saanich Police are investigating a reported break and enter which resulted in the theft of fourteen (14) laptop computers. The incident is believed to have taken place at some point between Wednesday, February 4th at 8 p.m. and Thursday morning at 11 a.m..
The thieves were able to access a building where a local non-profit agency runs day programs to support members of the community. The loss of the 14 computers will have a considerable impact on the agency and the assistance it provides to the community.
The stolen computers are described as HP ProBook 4440s laptop computers, all of which had 14 inch screens and a dark grey in colour. The total loss for all of the computers is estimated to be just under $10,000.
“We are asking the public to be on alert for anyone that may be attempting to sell this type of laptop, either in person, or through any used property websites” Sgt. Steve Eassie said. “Ideally, it would be great to be able to recover these devices and return them to the agency for their use”.
Anyone that may have information about the whereabouts of the laptop computers, or who may have information about the identity of the person(s) responsible for this theft are asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
