Saanich Police are asking for assistance from the public to locate a vehicle involved in a hit and run collision.

On Sunday, April 26, 2015, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the suspect vehicle struck a parked vehicle in the 1500 block of Longacre Drive, in the Gordon Head area of Saanich.

Witnesses, who heard the collision, saw a medium sized, red coloured, older style SUV fleeing from the scene, eastbound on Longacre Drive. No licence plate was obtained.

The vehicle that was parked, a 2007 Toyota Yaris, sustained significant damage to the front end of the vehicle, rendering the vehicle inoperable. The significant impact caused the parked vehicle to be moved approximately 20 feet.

Evidence was obtained from the scene which police believe may help to identify the suspect vehicle.

“We are looking to locate the vehicle and to identify the driver. We believe that someone that lives in the area may have information about the location of the vehicle” Sgt. Steve Eassie said. “The parked vehicle was not occupied, however, the driver of the suspect vehicle would still have an obligation to take steps to exchange information with the vehicle owner”.

Anyone who may have information about this incident, or have information about the suspect vehicle or its location are asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
