A concession stand located at Hampton Little League in the 3400 block of Tillicum Road was entered and several items of frozen food were taken just prior to three o’clock this morning.
Saanich Police were alerted to a possible problem at the location thanks to an intrusion alarm report at approximately 2:48 a.m.. Numerous officers responded to the location and confirmed that access to the concession had been forced through a locked door.
Investigation led officers to a residence in the 200 block of Obed Avenue. A suspect was located just outside the home in possession of a number of frozen food items.
At approximately 3:09 a.m., a 23 year old male was arrested and held in custody to appear in court on several charges including Break and Enter with Intent, Possession of Stolen Property, and Possession of Break-In Instruments.
“We are pleased that we were able to arrest a suspect for these alleged offences” Sgt. Steve Eassie said. “This is the second such incident at this location within the past two weeks. The concession stand is run by volunteers and supports the sporting events at the park. Nobody wants to see this community minded initiative end as a result of the actions of a selfish individual”.
Anyone that may have further information about this or other incidents are asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
