Chief Constable Scott Green, M.O.M., MPA
Chief Green grew up in Saanich attending Doncaster Elementary, Lansdowne Jr. Secondary, Mt. Doug Secondary, Camosun College, and the University of Victoria.
He was hired by the Saanich Police Department (SPD) in February 1988 and, prior to be promoted to the Senior Officer ranks, served in the following sections and divisions: Patrol, Traffic, Street Crime Unit, Youth Section, Administration Division, Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, Detective Division, and Professional Standards. Chief Green was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 2005, serving four years in the Administration Division, three years in Professional Standards, and two years in the Detective Division before being promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief in 2014. Chief Green was promoted to the rank of Chief Constable on August 1, 2019 after serving just over 5 ½ years as Deputy Chief.
Chief Green is a vocal advocate for the prevention of gender based violence and believes strongly in our Mission to provide quality police service by working with the community to keep Saanich safe. Two of his many goals as Chief is to be an employer of choice and a service provider of choice; both of which he believes are equally important.
Chief Green was invested by the Governor General of Canada, as a member, into The Order of Merit of the Police Forces in 2018. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Double Major), a Masters in Public Administration, and a Masters Certificate in Project Management; all from the University of Victoria.
