A suspect has been arrested after setting a fire outside an apartment complex early Sunday morning.
Just after midnight on February 7, 2021, Saanich Police and Saanich Fire were called to an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Eldon Place after a fire was observed at the front entranceway of the building. After the fire was extinguished, investigators were quick to obtain video surveillance that identified a possible suspect. A uniformed officer immediately recognized the individual, who was located and arrested just a few hours later.
“While the fire was not particularly large in nature and was contained to a plastic bucket, the fact that it was up against an outside wall of this large, 94-unit residential complex presented a very real and serious risk to personal injury.”
