Just before 3am an alert resident on Regina ave reported suspicious behaviour. Two males wearing dark clothes and carrying bags were seen exiting a property in the 100 block of Regina ave.
Saanich Police patrol officers arrived and searched the area. Two males matching the descriptions were located a block away.
One of the males had a screw driver sticking out of his pants. He was searched and other tools including a wrench, flashlight and a knife were located. The second male also had a hammer, screwdriver, vice grips and a crescent wrench.
Located ten feet from the two suspects was a power washer and a garden gnome. Both the gnome and the power washer were identified as coming from residences on the street.
Two males were arrested for Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of Break-in Instruments. Both are very well known to local CRD agencies.
One male, a 23 year old Victoria resident, was at large on a Conditional Sentence Order for convictions. He also was in violation of a curfew.
The second male suspect, a 28 year old Saanich resident, is a well known local prolific offender with a history of property related offences.
Both suspects were held in custody to appear in Provincial Court today.
