Saanich Police Street Crime Unit members were busy dismantling two significant marihuana grow operations over the Christmas season.
On December 19th, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 5400 block of the Pat Bay Highway, near Sayward road. Found inside the residence was a very sophisticated marihuana grow operation and nearly 750 growing marihuana plants. Approximately 11 pounds of dried marihuana ready for sale was also recovered.
This investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made as of yet.
On December 28th, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 4300 block of Quadra street. Upon being searched, 494 growing marihuana plants were found inside. Approximately 10 pounds of dried marihuana was also seized.
Three Saanich residents, two females and a male, were arrested and released with a court date. Observed by investigators was evidence that a child or children had been inside the residence. As a result the Ministry of Children and Families was notified.
