On March 3, 2014 David Richardson was the victim of a residential break and enter at his Kangaroo Road home. During the break in the suspects stole a sentimentally priceless medal. Mr. Richardson had been invested as a Lieutenant of the Royal Victoria Order and had been presented the medal by the Queen herself in 1994.
Members of the Regional Crime Unit were able to facilitate the return of the medal through investigation and information provided. It is the return of these types of prized possessions that our members strive for. Televisions and Stereos can be replaced but when those items of great sentimental value are taken from us it only adds further to the victimization.
The Regional Crime Unit is an integrated unit comprised of police officers from the Saanich Police Department, Oak Bay Police Department, West Shore Detachment RCMP as well as Provincial RCMP. Since 2008 the Regional Crime Unit has been pursuing its mandate of proactively targeting the region’s most prolific criminal offenders.
