For the first time in the history of the Victoria Pride Parade, all of the police forces serving
Greater Victoria are joining up to participate together in this major community event.
Victoria Police Department
Saanich Police Department
Royal Canadian Mounted Police
Oak Bay Police Department
Central Saanich Police Service
Military Police Unit Esquimalt
There will be a police vehicle in the parade from each police force, along with a large number of
walkers representing police officers from the ranks of Constable all the way up to Chief. Also
taking part are volunteer Reserve and Auxiliary officers, our support staff, family and friends.
The Greater Victoria Police Diversity Advisory Committee (GVPDAC) has helped to
organize this year’s multi-agency participation. This committee was created in 2003 and has
representatives from the area police forces along with a number of diverse communities,
including the Victoria Pride Society.
The Mission Statement of the GVPDAC is, “…to serve as a voice between our diverse
community and the police, to work towards maintaining and building positive relations.” The
participation of our police agencies in the Pride Parade will allow positive connections to occur
and show our commitments to inclusivity and diversity within Greater Victoria’s communities
and our own agencies.
The parade begins at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6th, at the corner of Pandora Avenue and
Government Street. On behalf of the GVPDAC and the participating Greater Victoria police
forces, we’re all looking forward to some great community engagement with everyone!
