On March 11, at 6:30pm, Saanich Police closed a portion of the Galloping Goose Trail from McKenzie Ave. to Grange Rd. The closure was to allow for a search of the surrounding area for potential evidence in relation to a Major Crimes Unit investigation. A preliminary search, with the assistance of K9, was conducted, but due to lack of daylight the decision was made to hold the area overnight.
At daybreak, with the support of the Greater Victoria Public Safety Unit, a thorough search and canvas of the area was conducted. That has now concluded.
Going forward, we will provide more information on this file as needed.
The closed section of the Galloping Goose Trail reopened to the public on March 12 at 11:45am. We want to thank everyone for their patience.
