On April 29, 2025, the Saanich Police Department’s Street Crime Unit (SCU) began an investigation into allegations that a youth was trafficking illegal drugs to other youths in group homes in the Capital Region.
On May 6, 2025, with the assistance of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT), SCU officers arrested two males, aged 16 and 17 at the time, in connection with this investigation. At the time of their arrest, they were in possession of approximately seventeen grams of suspected fentanyl, some of which was pre-bagged for individual sales, approximately three grams of suspected methamphetamine, and approximately twenty-seven grams of cannabis.
Our investigation into this matter continues and investigators will be recommending to Crown that both youths be charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
They have been released from custody with conditions, and both have a future court date.
