On October 23, 2025, just before 4 pm, an officer in our Traffic Safety Unit responded to a parking lot in the 3500 block of Blanshard Street for the report of an impaired driver. The report indicated a man was seen behind the wheel of a Mercedes SUV, appearing to smoke from a glass pipe.
When the officer arrived, they discovered a man and woman who appeared to be unconscious in the front seats of the vehicle with the engine still running. As the officer approached the driver’s window, they observed what appeared to be drugs and drug paraphernalia on the drivers’ lap.
The officer informed the male driver that he was under arrest and removed the keys from the ignition of the vehicle as the driver attempted to flee.
Following the arrest, officers seized the vehicle and conducted a search, uncovering a brick of what is believed to be cocaine weighing approximately one kilogram, and over $20,000 in cash.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driving Prohibition and released.
Our investigation is ongoing, and we anticipate recommending charges to Crown at a later date.
