The Saanich Police Department will deploy a temporary camera at the Strawberry Festival at Beaver Lake Park on July 5, in support of our operations to help ensure public safety during the event. The camera will be clearly visible and mounted on our Command Vehicle, operating in a public space in accordance with provincial and federal privacy laws. It will be removed at the conclusion of the event.
“The use of a CCTV camera will help us monitor the Strawberry Festival responsibly and support a timely response if needed,” said Deputy Chief Damian Kowalewich. “We want everyone to feel safe and relaxed while enjoying everything the festival has to offer.”
