Bear Sightings

The Saanich Police Department have received reports of a black bear in 2300 block of Queenswood Drive accessing garbage cans. We ask those who are outside in the area to be alert and cautious. If you encounter the animal, remain calm, back away slowly, and contact BC Conservation Service at 1-877-952-7277 or local police as needed.

We’d also like to remind residents that they need to make sure that they are securing their garbage cans so that they don’t become an attractant to bears. Failure to do so may result in a fine.
